A little about me.

I'm Max.

I build websites, take photographs, cook, and tend to get interested in how things could work a little better. Sometimes that means sorting out a confusing system. Other times it means finding the right angle for a photo or figuring out what's missing from dinner.

I notice a lot: color, composition, how people interact, where something gets frustrating. Once something catches my attention, I like getting enough of a picture to understand it. That's usually where an idea starts.

Getting it to feel right.

With a website, there's the practical side: can people find what they need, does it run well, can the business keep it up to date? Then there's the feeling of it. Does it have the personality of the people and the place it represents?

I want to get both of those right. I enjoy working through the details until they start making sense together. A finished piece should feel considered, and the people it's for should be able to recognize themselves in it.

The rest of life.

Outside of that, I'm into music, games, wandering through downtown shops and art collectives, spending time at cafés, and getting out by a lake. I enjoy fashion and finding things that feel like me. My camera roll tends to fill up along the way.

Cooking gets a lot of my attention, too. There's room to play with color, flavor, and texture, and you get to feed someone when you're done. Making a meal for people I care about feels good. There's usually some comfortable disorder involved.

I care about having peace in my life, even when getting there takes an uncomfortable conversation or a boundary. Community matters just as much: sharing food, showing up, and having people who do the same for you.

This site gives all of that somewhere to live. Adventures is where I share photographs and moments worth keeping. Field Notes gives me room to write about an idea, a project, or something I've been thinking through.
